God intends for us to know we have eternal life. The Bible says, "Whoever has the Son has life . . . I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5-12-13).

Jesus promises assurance of eternal life. "Whoever listens to my words, and believes in the One who sent me, has eternal life; without being brought to judgment such a person has passed from death to life" (John 5:24).
